International Human Rights Clinic
Johns Hopkins University
School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)
The SAIS International Human Rights Clinic is an application course through Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) - International Law and Organizations Program. This course is designed to teach students skills for careers in international human rights promotion and protection. These skills are taught through the use of simulations, discussions, case studies, and a team project. Each student taking the course has the opportunity to gain practical experience in international human rights through researching and working on a human rights report.
This year's project examines how countries import international human rights norms through the case study of Georgia. The overall objective of this research is to understand how Georgia has implemented human rights norms on police accountability, private sector discrimination, and press freedom through an analysis of laws, practices, and perceptions. The group will report on Georgia's progress towards importing human rights norms and provide policy recommendations for how the country can improve their implementation.
The clinic team presented its report on May 18 via Zoom webinar. The report will be available on May 26.
